Chapter 10

That Thursday Night

It had only been a couple of days and already I was missing momma and Flava. I knew it was hard for them to fathom the thought of me being the spitting image of my father. It was hard for me to deal with it when I looked in the mirror everyday. More and more, I was beginning to not want to do so ever again. I had begun to become disgusted with myself. I mean, I wasn’t even good enough for my own mother to love me. How could I ever expect to love myself? Fuck it, I guess. As long as the dick loved me, that’s really all that mattered. Eventually I would call them to talk and they would probably ask me to come back. But they needed a little time realizing life without me. They could use the break. Hopefully it would make them appreciate and pay me more attention.

“Hey babe. You wanna order a pizza?” Josh broke my train of thought as he busted through the front door.

“No, I’m tired of eating scrap food and I’m tired of being couped up in this house. I wanna go out. I wanna feel alive. I’m too young for this shit.” Rage built up in my pores as beads of sweat formed on my forehead.

“Okay damn. Calm down. I’ve just been having a lot of things to clear up with my dad and everything. He’s been trying to get me to go into business with him and I really don’t want to. Hell, I really don’t want to work at all but I know he’ll push me to do—“

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Blah, blah, blah. I don’t wanna hear that shit.” My arms flailed heavily in the air. “I want to go out.”

My feet stormed to the bathroom letting the lid to the toilet seat down before plopping my ass on top of it. I reached over locking the door so he couldn’t barge in and interrupt what I was about to do. My fingers couldn’t work fast enough as I texted Evan, hoping like hell he would text me back quickly. If I talked to him real smooth and sweet, he would have no choice but to come and swoop me from the furthest corner from the building. No sooner than I hit the send button on my message did Josh tap lightly on the bathroom door.

“What?” I hollered, allowing the angry inflection to remain in my voice.

“I’m sorry Mink. I’ve been neglecting you and that’s something that I don’t want you to ever feel in our home. Come on out so I can make it up to you just like you like it.”

“Go away, Josh. I don’t want your stupid dick or your fucking tongue right now. You can’t weasel your way out of this shit. I want out of this house, now,” I demanded.

"You're being unreasonable baby and acting like a spoiled selfish brat, Mink. Now get your ass out of this bathroom before I break this damn door down.
